The Jets are still struggling to maintain their receivers' presence on the field
Highlights from Tuesday’s Jets practice:
Put it in the rook
Rookie safety Ashtyn Davis had a strong practice with Marcus Maye sidelined. Working with the starters, Davis was all over the field. The highlight was an interception of Sam Darnold during a 7-on-7 period.
Catching gone
The Jets were down to four healthy wide receivers by the end of practice – Josh Malone, Jehu Chesson, George Campbell and Donte Moncrief, who was in his first practice. The Jets need to get healthy at receiver quickly.
Jets investigating their unprecedented injury crisis
Caught my eye
The Jets ended practice with a ball security period. The offense had coaches hitting at the ball and the defense worked on interception and forcing fumble drills. The Jets had a rough scrimmage last week with three giveaways on offense.
Medical report
TE Chris Herndon, WR Jamison Crowder, WR Chris Hogan and WR Braxton Berrios all left practice with “tightness,” according to coach Adam Gase. Herndon’s tightness was in his chest and he was getting further evaluation. RB La’Mical Perine has a low-ankle sprain and is not expected to miss too much time. S Marcus Maye (calf), WR Breshad Perriman (knee), WR Denzel Mims (hamstring), CB Pierre Desir (hamstring), DL Jabari Zuniga (quad) and OT Chuma Edoga (illness) all sat out.
