“No”: Trump says US will not extend temporary agreement with Iran

US President Donald Trump stated that the United States does not intend to extend the temporary agreement with Iran, the term of which expired 60 days after the signing of the memorandum.

The document, agreed in June, provided for an “immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts,” as well as negotiations on a full-fledged agreement, including the issue of Iran’s nuclear program. However, already on July 7 Trump stated that the agreement had “ended,” and a week later Iran’s Foreign Ministry also declared it “suspended.”

When asked whether the United States was trying to extend the temporary agreement, Trump replied: “No.”

The US president also demanded that Iran “surrender and raise the white flag of capitulation.”
