A driver in Washington state is facing charges after she allegedly chased a young child riding a dirt bike down the sidewalk in an attempt to hit them.

The incident happened last Tuesday in Cheney, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Video taken by a witness shows the suspect, later identified as 56-year-old Wendy Clemente, jump a curb and drive down the sidewalk, following a child on a dirt bike. Deputies say she was trying to hit the child, who was not injured in the incident.

“What the hell,” said the witness in the video. “This lady’s crazy.”

Clemente eventually got back on the road and left the area. A short time later, investigators say she was spotted trying to break into a home nearby.

Deputies arrested Clemente, who told them she took her dog for a ride to find other dogs to socialize with. She noticed dogs in the home’s fenced yard and stopped. Investigators say she denied trying to enter the home.

When asked, Clemente reportedly didn’t remember the earlier incident involving the bike rider. Deputies say she first denied being impaired then later admitted to drinking alcohol.

Clemente is facing several charges, including driving while under the influence, assault and trespassing. She was released on her own recognizance last Wednesday without needing to post bond.
