Planet Labs imposes 96-hour delay on Gulf images after Iranian missile hits on U.S. bases

The U.S. satellite imagery company Planet Labs has limited the distribution of new images from the Middle East after Iranian attacks on U.S. bases.

The company announced that publication of images from the Persian Gulf region will now be delayed by 96 hours. The decision came after satellite images of the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain, which was targeted by Iranian missiles, were leaked online.

Planet Labs stated that the restriction is intended to prevent “hostile actors” from using fresh satellite data to assess the impact of strikes and analyze military operations. However, images of sites in Iran continue to be published without delays.
